World's first true octa-core processor announced by mediatek

MediaTek has officially unveiled the world's first true octa-core processor. The latest SoCs allows all the eight cores to run simultaneously, unlike the Samsung's Exynos 5 octa, which can activate up to half of its CPU cores at once. The true octa-core processors offers enhanced performance, power efficiency and improved user experience.
By allowing tasks to run concurrently with the use of multiple different cores, MediaTek True Octa-Core intelligently allocates processing power to where it is needed, both on a per-application and per-task basis. With MediaTek True Octa-Core, users can enjoy heavy web downloading, hardcore gaming, high-quality premium video viewing or other types of rigorous multitasking without experiencing lag times or excessive battery consumption.

MediaTek true octa-core features (as claimed by the company)

  • Advanced web browsing: With the unique ability to allocate individual browser tabs to CPU cores, MediaTek True Octa-Core allows for a faster, more stable web browsing experiences.
  • Smoother user interfaces: With the ability to delegate user inputs to individual cores and render 3D effects more smoothly, the functionality and appearance of user interfaces in both applications and operating systems are significantly enhanced.
  • Superior gaming experiences: The advanced multi-threaded programming deployed in the MediaTek True Octa-Core, enables different sequences to be allocated to different cores, delivering enhanced video frame-rate processing and exceptionally low-latency gaming experiences.
  • Efficient video playback: When on decoding mode, the battery used for decoding HEVC (H.265) FHD video can be reduced by up to 18 percent compared to current quad-core solutions. While on display mode, MediaTek True Octa-Core provides users 20 percent more frames.
Android devices featuring the chip are expected to hit the markets in late september, the processors are expected to be clocked at 1.7GHz-2 GHz range. This chip could be a turning point  for MediaTek which was offering low-Mid range solutions till now.
Stay tuned for more updates

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean officially unveiled by google

Google has finally released Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the latest major revision for the android operating system. Coming pre-installed on the new Nexus 7, Android 4.3 will bring many new features. the 4.3 version is a maintenance update, the more significant "Key lime Pie"  version is expected to  arrive early next year.

Here are the updated features

  • ability to control access to apps at the profile level. Restricted profiles can be used for parental controls, limiting access to apps.
  • android will now support the Bluetooth Smart / LE (low energy), the latest standard for connecting to devices such as smart watches or vitality sensors. Bluetooth LE allows the device to stay connected to these wireless peripherals using negligible amounts of power, while still providing fast and reliable connectivity.
  • Android 4.3 brings support for OpenGL ES 3.0, DRM APIs for providing hardware-based encryption for protecting content.
  • Android 4.3 comes with an upgraded algorithm for tap-typing recognition that makes text input easier while chatting via messages or even while composing emails. It also brings a new emoji keyboard, which we've previously seen in iOS. The update also adds lower latency input for gamepad buttons and joysticks
  • The Notification bar has been a popular feature on Android and with Android 4.3, you can control and interact with the status bar notifications. This would allow users to control how notifications are pushed to the primary and connected devices(smart watches, fitness bands). Users will also be able to see all the notifications at one place.
  • Better location accuracy of Android devices by allowing location scanning via Wi-Fi. It now allows apps to get location data through Wi-Fi even when Wi-Fi is set to off and not being used for data access.
  • Google also unveiled a new app for Google Play Games. It isn’t specific to Android 4.3, You can find the app in the Google Play Store starting today for android 2.3.6 and above.
  • Android 4.3 also offers a new updated Camera app that features a new arch based menu which makes it easier to control and switch camera settings.
There is no major change in the User Interface which is little disappointing, Android 4.3 will be on the new Nexus 7, which was just announced, out of the box, and will also be coming to all the latest Nexus devices starting today.

LG G2 benchmarks revealed, may come with Snapdragon 800

A new device going by the name LG-F320 popped up in an AnTuTu benchmark and is leaving many scratching their heads. there’s a pretty good chance we could be looking at the recently leaked LG G2.

The benchmark — which originated from South Korea –  shows the device powered by an unspecified 2.3GHz processor. Given the high clock speed, we’re inclined to believe that its  a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, already confirmed to come bundled inside the upcoming LG G2 .With a score of 32,002, this is definitely no slouch. other than the score nothing else was revealed about the phone. lg  has a  press event scheduled in New York on August 7th. We believe that we’ll learn more about the  LG G2 there.
