HTC has released their new flagship for the year 2014, the HTC One "M8" also known as HTC One 2014.However,apart from the same name its leaps ahead of its predecessor.

here are some of the key specifications of the phone-

Hardware
The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 backed up with 2GB of RAM. Storage wise there’s 16GB of space, Unlike the HTC One, the handset supports microSD up to 128GB. Meanwhile, power comes from a 2600mAh battery to keep you going.

The HTC One M8 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box. That’s topped with the brand new Sense 6, HTC’s exclusive operating system. It now allows you to pick your own fonts and colours as well as a fully customisable updated version of BlinkFeed included. BlinkFeed is a home screen, which packs all your social networking, news and photo notifications into one handy screen.Google play edition of the phone will also be available soon, which will provide a Stock Android "experience".

the sensor size is 1/3" and each pixel is sized at 2µm.The rear camera supports 1080p video recording at 60fps  with automatic stabilization.
The front camera is a 5MP unit which is perfect for selfies and 1080p(30 fps) recording.

Design
The phone still features its unique aluminum unibody, which look quite similar to the original HTC One. HTC has refined the design somewhat, with more curved surfaces and a more comfortable grip. The hardware buttons, previously located on the bottom lip of the One, are no longer there; instead the device uses Android’s on-screen touch controls. There are stereo front-facing BoomSound speakers, which have new amplifiers to make the audio quality even better.

Display
HTC’s One M8 has a 5-inch display with 1080p full HD resolution at 440ppi. It’s a Super LCD 3 screen and HTC insists the display has improved upon the technology in the first handset. Apparently,it looks better than HTC One's display.

HTC one will face tough competition from the likes of Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2, and only time will tell which one of them will be the winner.
What do you think about the phone?? feel free to comment.

Add MicroSD card to your Android device

Android manufacturers are now following the footsteps of Apple and removing expandable storage option from their devices.Popular devices like the Nexus series (Nexus 4,5,7) and the recently launched Motorola Moto G all lack the MicroSD card slot.
Heavy users tend to run out of fixed memory within a few days and need more storage for their Android smartphones/tablets.Well,now you can have it !!
Thanks to a kickstarter project,a company called meenova has launched an external card reader which lets you use MicroSD card on your Android tablets and smartphones.
The concept is simple, its like an SD/MicroSD card reader that you often use on your PC, except this one comes with a MicroUSB connector to plug into smartphones & tablets with MicroUSB port. Use it to play video/music on a MicroSD card. View photos/documents, copy and backup any and all of your files. Just like what you can do on a PC.
The card reader is available in 4 different colors, you will get a key chain connector and a MicroUSB to USB converter which will help you to use it with a PC.Attach this coin-size card reader to your keyring and take it anywhere you go. Never run out of storage space again.
the device is compatible with a majority of popular devices. However, root access and third party apps are required for Nexus 5.After the recent 174.44.1 build and 176.44.1 build of Android 4.4 (which re-enable USB-OTG) update,Moto G can use this reader without root access.
For a complete list of compatible devices check here.

The card reader supports  MicroSD, MicroSDHC, MicroSDXC up to 64GB  and costs $12 with $3 international shipping. Meenova is offering a 1 year limited warranty with the device.

How to Convert PDFs on Android for Free

PDF converters have always been very popular tools in the office. Converting PDFs into more editable formats like Microsoft Word or Excel is a must for many people who regularly receive information in the form of a PDF that needs to be edited further and analyzed.
And since PDFs can’t be edited, the best thing to do in such a situation is to convert them into a more editable format in order to free the trapped data. One of the most popular names in professional PDF conversion solutions is Investintech.com. The company’s Able2Extract software is among the most powerful and popular on the market when it comes to professional PDF conversion tools.
The Able2Extract name has recently expanded its services to the mobile market, and now offers free PDF conversion tools for Android mobile device users.
Here are some of the key features of these great new apps-

Completely free
There are no strings attached. The Able2Extract PDF converter mobile app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. You can also get them from Investintech’s own site.

Very user-friendly
The app’s interface is very easy to understand and navigate, so even if you’ve never used a PDF conversion tool online or on mobile, you won’t have much of an issue using this application. It’s also designed to work on any Android or iOS device you own, whether it’s a phone or a tablet.

Popular conversion options
While Able2Extract Mobile might not give you all of the conversion options you get from the desktop software, all of the most popular ones are supported. You can use the app to convert PDFs into editable Excel, PowerPoint, Word and text files. Furthermore, you can reverse the process and turn those file types into PDFs with the app as well. It’s safe to say that it will probably be the only file conversion app you will ever need to install on your mobile device.

Accurate results
Since the mobile app operates with the same high-end technology used by the Able2Extract desktop software, you can expect accurate conversions every time that perfectly mirror the formatting of the original content.

Resource efficient
These conversions are not being performed by the app itself. The app sends the files to the Investintech online servers, where the conversion is completed. This means that the conversion process will not slow down your mobile device or drain your battery drastically.

Integrated sharing options
With one quick tap, you can share and send your converted files to friends and colleagues.

Guaranteed security
Both your original and converted files are deleted from the servers after a period of 24 hours. Furthermore, you’ll never have to give your email address or any other personal information in order to use the app.

2-Tap Conversion process

The conversion process couldn’t be any simpler. All it takes is two taps. Simply long-tap any file you want to have converted and then send it to the Able2Extract Mobile app. Once it appears in the file list, tap the conversion option you desire. And that’s all there is to it. The newly converted file will appear on your file list once the process is completed.

Run android apps on your PC

Candy Crush on BlueStacks app player
There are multiple ways to emulate Android on a PC and you don't need to be a geek to do so.
We are Going to demonstrate one of the simplest ways to run Android apps and games on a windows based PC or a Mac using the BlueStacks app player.

The app player provided by BlueStacks is basically a virtual machine running on Android Jellybean with several optimizations, which allows you to run apps smoothly(to some extent!) and in a full screen mode.

STEP 1
download the BlueStacks installer for Windows(XP,VISTA,Win 7/8) or MAC OS X from the

Update your Graphic card drivers -
This step is very important as the player won't run unless you have the latest drivers.

STEP 3
Install the App player. BlueStacks can be installed on any location on your hard drive, however in Windows based systems all the application data will be stored on the C drive so you need to have sufficient empty space in the C drive.5 GB space should be enough for casual use.

STEP 4
Open BlueStacks, boot up of the app player might take some time.Log in to your google account just as you do with a new phone or Tablet.
you are now ready to run mobile apps on your PC or Mac.

APP INSTALLATION

ONLINE

  • You can use Google PLAY store,AMAZON app store or any other market for app installations.
  • PLAY store is not visible on the home screen, use the search button to search for any app in the play store.
  • Apps installed from PLAY store are encrypted and are not visible from Windows explorer.
OFFLINE
  • After finishing the installation all the APK files on your system will show the BlueStacks icon, just click on the APK file to install it on the app player.
  • Apps installed from Non Market sources are stored in the following directory-C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\SharedFolder
APP SYNC
Click on the App sync icon and enter the password of your google account. All your previous apps will be downloaded into BlueStacks.

That's it,Enjoy your Android apps and games!!!

Two versions of galaxy s5 confirmed via leaked benchmarks

We recently reported the existence of two versions of Galaxy S5 in our Rumor Roundup. Screenshots of Antutu benchmarks of both the versions are released by the Antutu china, confirming our expectations.
The "Premium" version internally known as SM-G900R4 is powered by a  a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800(MSM 8974AC) CPU Same as the one found in Gionee Elife E7, 3GB RAM, Andreno 330 GPU, 32GB internal storage, 16MP primary camera, 2.1MP front-facing unit, a 1440p QHD display, and will have Kit Kit 4.4.2 Skinned with a new version of TouchWiz.
The snapdragon version scores 31843 points on the benchmark, which is actually lower that the scores of Note 3 due to the presence of  a QHD display.
The "standard" version SM-G900H is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 5422 clocked at 1.5 GHz and features 2GB RAM, ARM Mali-T628 GPU, 16GB internal storage, 16MP camera and a 1080p FHD Display.
The exynos version scores 35445 on the benchmarks and beats both the Note 3 and the Snapdragon version.Judging from the low clock speed of exynos 5422 we suspect the chipset is capable of a true octa-core configuration similar to Mediatek MT6592.
AnTuTu benchmark is known to be overly generous to octa core chipsets ,despite low scores the snapdragon version is much more faster than the one powered by exynos.
Both versions of Galaxy S5 will be revealed on 24th Feb at Barcelona, stay tuned for more updates on the device.

Galaxy S5 rumor roundup

Samsung's latest flagship is the hottest buzz on the Internet right now, with the device's imminent launch on February 23,we have compiled the list of expected specs and features.Of course, some of them are too good to be true and we will have to wait for the actual launch for confirmation.

METALLIC BODY
as we reported a year earlier samsung has finally decided to use premium materials in its smartphone.Samsung will apparently launch 2 versions of Galaxy S5 one with regular plastic and a premium model with metallic body.Magnesium and Aluminium are the likely materials

PROCESSOR
The smartphone will come with 2 different processors. However, unlike its predecessors there will be no US and International versions as both the processors will be capable of handling 4G LTE.The premium version will get Samsung's own eight-core Exynos 6 CPU,capable of running all 8 cores simultaneously.and the regular version will feature a Snapdragon 805 clocked at 2.5 GHz.Contrary to popular belief,The Exynos 6 probably will NOT have a 64 bit architecture

MEMORY
Both the versions are expected to come with 3GB  LPDDR3 RAM.Internal memory could be 16GB

DISPLAY
Its almost confirmed that the phone will come with a 5.25 inch QHD 2560 x 1440 display, with an eye popping pixel density of 560ppi.The human eye maxes out at 300 ppi,but this display will certainly give you bragging rights. The display is supposed to be of AMOLED variety but some rumors suggest an LCD display

CAMERA
Several sources claim that the Galaxy S5 will come with a 16MP camera with  hardware-based optical image stabilisation. With alleged image samples released by @evleaks already confirming the resolution of thr camera

RETINA SCANNER
The feature seems to be impractical and gimmicky, but having the phone scan your eyes to unlock it is as cool as it can get. Recent rumors suggest that a retina scanner is highly unlikely, instead we might see a good old fingerprint scanner.

SOFTWARE AND UI
The image on the right is a screenshot of the Galaxy S5 homescreen which is very different than the usual TouchWiz UI(Finally something new!!)
The S5 will launch with a heavily skinned Android 4.4 KitKat with a Crapload of Bloatware, but there surely will be a Google Play edition with stock android in the near future.

AVAILABILITY
After its big reveal just a day before Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, the device is expected to hit the shelves in  April.

This is all we have on the device right now, stay tuned for more updates.
Have we missed anything?? or if you want to add your wishlist of features, please feel free to comment.

Motorola mobility acquired by lenovo for $3 billion!!!

Google has  just signed an agreement to sell Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion. According to google it is an important move for the android ecosystem. Here's the explanation given by larry page on the deal-

"  We acquired Motorola in 2012 to help supercharge the Android ecosystem by creating a stronger patent portfolio for Google and great smartphones for users. Over the past 19 months, Dennis Woodside and the Motorola team have done a tremendous job reinventing the company. They’ve focused on building a smaller number of great (and great value) smartphones that consumers love. Both the Moto G and the Moto X are doing really well, and I’m very excited about the smartphone lineup for 2014. And on the intellectual property side, Motorola’s patents have helped create a level playing field, which is good news for all Android’s users and partners.
But the smartphone market is super competitive, and to thrive it helps to be all-in when it comes to making mobile devices. It’s why we believe that Motorola will be better served by Lenovo—which has a rapidly growing smartphone business and is the largest (and fastest-growing) PC manufacturer in the world. This move will enable Google to devote our energy to driving innovation across the Android ecosystem, for the benefit of smartphone users everywhere. As a side note, this does not signal a larger shift for our other hardware efforts. The dynamics and maturity of the wearable and home markets, for example, are very different from that of the mobile industry. We’re excited by the opportunities to build amazing new products for users within these emerging ecosystems.
Lenovo has the expertise and track record to scale Motorola into a major player within the Android ecosystem. They have a lot of experience in hardware, and they have global reach. In addition, Lenovo intends to keep Motorola’s distinct brand identity—just as they did when they acquired ThinkPad from IBM in 2005. Google will retain the vast majority of Motorola’s patents, which we will continue to use to defend the entire Android ecosystem.
The deal has yet to be approved in the U.S. or China, and this usually takes time. So until then, it’s business as usual. I’m phenomenally impressed with everything the Motorola team has achieved and confident that with Lenovo as a partner, Motorola will build more and more great products for people everywhere. "
Posted by Larry Page, CEO Google

The sale comes in a surprise move by google ,which acquired motorola over a year ago for $12.5 billion and is incurring a huge loss. Some experts believe that motorola deal was just a scheme by google to get its hands upon Motorola's large  patent portfolio.
what do you think about the deal??

Due to the powerful hardware the phone can run HD games with ease and supports 1080p playback.
the phone features a brilliant 4.5 inch 720p HD display with 326ppi pixel density.the display has vibrant color reproduction, which can be compared to high end phones.the juice is provided by a 2070 mAH Non-removable battery which provides 24 hours of backup or upto 7 hours of continuous video playback.
The back cover of the phone is user removable, customers can buy colorful covers or "Shells" from motorola and customize the look and feel of their device to some extent. Moto G benchmarks-
AnTuTu -17214

Micromax debuts in Russia, launches 5 smartphones

Leading Indian manufacturer Micromax  announced its foray into the Russian market with 5 devices, namely the Micromax Canvas Beat A114R, Canvas Social A94, Bolt A61, Bolt A36 and Bolt A28. A Russian version of their website is up and running already, on which device listings can be found. Noteworthy is the fact that both Canvas devices launched are seen as variants of handsets already existing in the Indian market, while the Bolt series phones are launched as-is.
The Canvas Beat A114R  can be considered as a variant of the Canvas 2.2 A114 that goes in India. It comes with a 1.2GHz Broadcom quad-core (mediatek mt6582 would have been better)processor, 1GB RAM and a 5-inch qHD screen. On the other hand, the Canvas Social A94 is more or less a Canvas MAd A94 with a new identity and same internals. However, Micromax aren’t offering Russian users the chance to earn with their device. The Bolt series of smartphones is mainly targeted at first-time smartphone buyers, with display sizes measuring 4-inch or lower across all three devices.
Russia is one of the largest consumers of Chinese electronics, which is perhaps why Micromax eye the market as a big fish — after all, Micromax’s devices are direct competitors to low-cost Chinese phones. It will be interesting to see how welcoming Russians will be to a brand that’s well-recognized in the Indian sub-continent.
